For the past 10 years, Marcela worked on social justice campaigns with a focus on human rights and women’s empowerment. And along the way, she has managed to weave in her love for visual storytelling through digital photography.
A career highlight of Marcela's comes from her time spent in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. There, she developed a youth media project that connected documentary film and photography as a set of tools and platform necessary for people living in favelas to have a space to tell their own story in their own words. Having returned to Seattle, Marcela worked with former USAID Chief of Innovation, Maura O’Neill, on communication projects in international development, innovation, and social entrepreneurship. She has a Master’s in International Affairs and Media from The New School.
