Colin Wright works with the Energy Media team to expand popular support for policies that will accelerate our transition to a clean energy future. He works alongside advocates in the Northeast, providing communications support to drive news and humanize issues. Drawing on years of experience as a transit advocacy campaign manager in New York City, he’s adept at developing opportunities to demonstrate power over decision-makers. At heart, Colin is an advocacy campaigner, with a background in strategic communications, strategy development, and government affairs. As a native Kansan who has spent the last decade in NYC, he’s innately familiar with the urban/rural divide that’s widening in the U.S. and draws on that knowledge when creating communications strategies to push progressive energy policies through divided state houses.
Colin’s career highlights include organizing New York disability advocates in a successful three-year effort to win a $5 billion New York State commitment to retrofit MTA subway stations to meet ADA standards; securing New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s appointment of the first MTA board member with a physical disability; and spearheading the first New York State legislative oversight hearing of MTA construction spending in a decade. In his free time, you’ll find Colin exploring NYC’s food scene by bike with his dog, Mia, not far behind.
